Pictures
from our son and daughter; both served in Iraq
Updated: Wednesday, May 15, 2013
SPECIAL THANK YOU to "Elizabeth" from Inver Grove Heights, who used her birthday party money to purchase the items you see in this picture: a new bed, 2 dog dishes, a Poodle book, jacket, leash, collar, toy, and Kong with filling! These items will be included when you adopt "Froto" (pictured) OR "Ginger" (pictured below). What generous gifts Elizabeth purchased to help these Poodles start their adoption off with new items! Also, thank you to her thoughtful parents who were willing to take Elizabeth to the store, pick out the items and then deliver them to us! -gail-
Members of our military always appreciate receiving mail.
POODLE PUPPIES
AT THIS TIME, we do not have any
Poodle puppies
Please check back often as we do not
know Thank you.
ADULT POODLES
WARNING!
"GIGI" had been found wandering the city streets and alleys before brought to the Burnsville Pound 4 times! She was completely matted, teeth were rotting while being greatly starved for affection. Her owner did come to claim her the last 3 times, but this time, GiGi was not picked up.
She was then shaved down and Picket Fence
Poodle Rescue was contacted to help this little, dejected
"Poodle" who desperately needs Vet work.
While we normally do NOT accept Poodle crosses, I just couldn't just walk away. So, this 8 year old little peanut has come to us in need of much Vet work and a family with open arms of love to adopt her. HER VET VISIT took place on Monday, May 13. Gigi was not pregnant, so she was spayed and 4 mammary tumors along with a lump on her rear hip were removed. Almost all of her teeth were removed with more dental work being done in a few weeks. For two hours GiGi was under anesthesia, but now GiGi will be out of pain due to the rotting teeth, infection and pus in her mouth. She was micro-chipped, wormed, Heartworm, Lymes, Ehrilich and Anaplas tested negative and placed on a preventative.
At this time, my Vet feels there is nothing
we can do about her damaged and missing right eye. A
Specialist may be contacted, but her Vet bill is already
$1,000.00. It’s hard to justify this expense involved for
one little Poodle cross, but I firmly believe that things happen
for a reason. More pictures and information soon.
"GUNNER" is now available for adoption. This is a hard to find, neutered "Miniature Poodle" who is 15" tall (measuring from the floor to his shoulders) and weighs a healthy 17 1/2 pounds. Nothing small about this big, strong and sturdy creamy white boy! Gunner was born February 15,2010. He was adopted as a puppy by a family in Wisconsin. Gunner has been well cared for and deeply loved all his life. Sadly, now his mommy is no longer able to care for him due to illness. Thank you, Peggy!
Gunner's brown nose, pinkish eye lids and
pronounced under-bite is very obvious, but don't let that distract you from
his silly, fun loving attitude (right) and yet gentle cuddling
personality (below).
It took a few days for Gunner to stop missing his family. This is a VERY LOYAL Poodle who was willing to wait, but eventually he learned that he needed to "move on". Truly, something I rarely find with any dog. Gunner has now quickly learned to enjoy our family and all the other Poodles. He loves food, follows me around, will be the first one to jump into my lap, is always ready to go for a walk, gives kisses and greatly enjoys other people. Gunner is young, with spunk and spirit in him which is a true reflection of the "Miniature Poodle".
Gunner loves to cuddle while sitting in your lap. He would be fine with other dogs, older children and someone who will let him sleep in bed with them. Please, no cats. This smart boy has quickly made himself at home by finding the top of our sofa a place to watch all the outside action going on (right). He has also been a perfect gentleman in our home and has never had an accident. In fact, he will squat (like a female) to relieve himself. No leg lifting here. We also found that this is a very intelligent boy, so previous Poodle (or dog) experience will be required. Obedience training will be suggested. His $350.00 adoption fee includes all his Vet work including shots up to date, wormed, teeth cleaned, Home-Again micro chipped, Heartworm tested negative and placed on a preventative.
We are also including a new doggie bed, leash,
collar, a bag of dog food, treats, his kennel with blanket and
lots of good information to help start your adoption on the
right paw forward!
Please contact me if you have any questions or would like Gunner's "Application For Adoption".
Ginger greatly enjoyed her bath and Oh my.... is that a smile on her new face? She knows life is going to be good to her now as GINGER IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION! Ginger is learning all about being in a home! She is so curious about everything and anything. I opened up the refrigerator door and she climbed right into it to see “What’s in here?” When I flush the toilet, she looks to see..."What's THAT??" I even found her looking into our bath tub, then looking at me to say... "What the...???" She is the first to climb into our dishwasher when I open that
door up: “What’s in Here!?” Then you should see her
face when I open the refrigerator door!
This is a
"VELCRO POODLE" who follows me everywhere and I’m always
tripping over her as she hasn’t learned to move out of the way. Please, no children or large dogs as Ginger is a very tender hearted, soft and gentle Poodle who could easily be taken advantaged of. Ginger is still not leashed trained, so a small fenced yard will be required. Ginger" is a very quiet Poodle who came to us from a Wisconsin Amish puppy mill along with many other dogs being culled from their breeding program.
We have very little information about Ginger, but we do know that she is approximately 6 to
8 years old, is 11" tall, a was a chunky 11.34 pounds, producing puppies all her life and is
very sad. As you can see, Ginger has lost some weight and now weighs a healthy 9 pounds!
Pictures below show a sad Poodle and how badly she had been neglected before arriving here. Yet, I have found that she is forgiving of all that has happened to her as she is very sweet, gentle and only wants love and attention.
Ear mites were killed and the rocks and dirt found in her ears were cleaned out. She can now hear!
However, the mammary tumors she had were extremely extensive. The picture (right) shows how large (ping-ball sized) these growths were. Can you just imagine the pain this little girl has been in while she continued to produce litters of puppies??!!
Our Vet only spayed her (she was not pregnant) and after THREE more surgeries the remaining mammary tumors were removed. Tests show we are NOT dealing with cancer, just a sad case of severe neglect.
Everyone at my Vet’s office just loved (and felt sorry for) her.
What a sweet and special little girl!
Ginger's Vet work has become a huge drain on our finances. Thank you to everyone who have sent us donations to help pay for Ginger's surgery. Ginger is such a strong, inspirational and "willing to survive" little girl! Ginger's adoption fee of $250.00 will help pay for just some of her Vet expenses, her kennel, leash, collar, a bag of dog food, a new bed, blanket, jacket, toys (all pictured above with Froto) and lots of information to help start your adoption onto the right paw forward. This Poodle is certainly entitled and deserves a loving "forever more" family with open arms of love. I know this is one special Poodle and she is going to be make some family very happy.
Ginger (left) is feeling better, and enjoying being outside with Samson.
As you can
see (left and below), Ginger is getting tired of looking at all
the snow and wanted to let Samson know how she felt about it:
Thank you again for your donations to help pay for Ginger's huge Vet expenses. Every small and large donation HELPS!!!
Please contact us for more information about Ginger or if you would like her "Application For Adoption".
HI! MY NAME IS "FROTO"! You know.... "Lord of the Rings" Froto? And I'm AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!! As you can
see, I am an extremely handsome red
and white Toy poodle!! I WAS only 2 years old (07/14/2008) and had been on that Craigslist a few times already! Renate got me and she has children and dogs and cats and I was happy. Then there was something about selling and moving. I don't know.... Renate wanted to make sure I would be taken real good care of, so I went to this Picket Fence Poodle Rescue place. After I arrived, I got to enjoy some time with "GRAND-kids" and they were grand! We went for a walk, ran and played in the yard. I love to play with older children. You should see me play with a ball. Gail? Can I have a ball now? Gail says that I'm a sausage on legs, but what does she know? I'm only 9" tall and weigh 13 1/2 pounds so does that make me a big sausage!? Probably a Dwarf Poodle.
I was adopted from Picket Fence Poodle Rescue
by a really nice lady in 2011, but
she got sick and is dying of
something called Huntington's.
Gail! Do you think that this time I can get a home with someone who will love me forever? See how I can wave my arms! PLEASE???
HELLO!!?? I just got back from visiting with my friend, the Vet doctor, again. I just got my teeth cleaned. So they're bright and shiny now! My bladder infection is gone and I'm doing just great!! I promise not to have any more accidents in a home.
I'm running all over and playing with my toys now, especially my stuffed and squeaking "carrot". You know, like "BOLT" the wonder dog!!?? I've also moved into bed with Gail and Mike at night. So you need to like having a cute Poodle (like me) sleeping with you. My $300.00 adoption fee includes my Vet work which includes having my teeth cleaned, shots are up to date, I've been wormed and heart worm tested negative then placed on a preventative. I got one of
them Home Again micro-chips too. A
bag of yummy dog food, some toys, a
kennel with blankets that I like to
sleep in, my new bed, leash, collar
and harness (Elizabeth purchased
for me-pictured above) and all kinds of good
information come with me. Yea!
NOTICE FROM GAIL: While Froto is extremely friendly, greatly enjoys playing with toys and being with people, we have found he is not getting along with a few of our Poodles! Froto wants to be an "only Poodle" and so we will adopt him out as such. Please, no small children.
"NITRO" is a big, strong, healthy, 4 year old (05/26/2008) creamy white, retired show quality Standard Poodle who comes with all his OFA testing done.
Vet work which has been done also includes: neutering,
teeth cleaning, shots up to date, Home Again micro-chipped, worming,
heartworm check and placed on a preventative.
Nitro will make an excellent Therapy or
Obedience Poodle. However, you will need previous dog
experience, along with the ability and time to work with this
boy and get him "into shape"! Neutering will
help. Hint: Right now, his name fits his
personality!
This is NOT a rescued Poodle, but a "rehome" Standard Poodle who was to be a part of a breeding program. There is NOTHING wrong with this boy, but he just not the quality the Breeder wanted to use. Please understand this was a difficult and sad decision as Nitro is a nice boy. Nitro's adoption is being handled by is owner, breeder and handler, Teri of SWAG Poodles. For his application or more information about Nitro, you can call 763-295-0627 or e-mail Teri at: swag04@tds.net To an approved home, his adoption fee will be $800.00. Not bad for this excellent, quality and intelligence.
This is truly a rare find and a great
opportunity for the right family!
NOTICE from Gail: The information below is from the owner of "BEPPE". Please contact Paula for more information about this special needs Standard Poodle. Thank you!
He has gone to Obedience classes, 2 levels and did very well! He also did Agility for 1 year but never realized where his back feet were in relationship to front feet. I think he would be very good in rally obedience. He walks on leash with a halter, and jumps around and spins a bit with excitement, until he gets going. Initially he is very active, spins, and acts odd (OCD), but he settles down quickly. If you want to read a book he either gets his ball or just lays down and sleeps, so he is easy to live with that way.
I have had Beppe since he was 8 weeks of age. He exhibits the classic symptoms of being taken from the litter too soon. Because of that, I feel he does not have dog language skills/ability. Consequently, he has anxiety and very limited dog communication capacity. This lack of language creates stress, arguments, abuse and bully tactics towards my other dogs living with him. Beppe has been raised with other dogs, however he will inappropriately fight with them, over a toy or a crumb of food. Therefore, Beppe needs to be an only dog in your home.
He needs a family with a lot of patience. Someone who would NOT try to strong arm him as he is stubborn and would just get more anxious and fearful. You have to ignore him and he will then do what you ask. He is very smart and a devoted and sweet boy once you figure out how to handle him. He has had his stomach tacked and very limited on the dog vaccines (for better health). He lives with cats and will pester them till they get mad and go after him.
Beppe is
totally housetrained, loves his wire kennel during the day, and
LOVES to ride in the car. I live in the country and travel long distances
(150 miles) in my SUV on days off. Beppe thinks this is
his "work".
"SAMSON" HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Pictured right, Samson is now enjoying his new home with Cindy and a young, cute, little Maltese girl friend, Lucy! This Poodle deserved and has now received open arms of love, a warm home, good food and a soft bed for the remaining years he has left. What a "Happily Ever After" for this Poodle in his senior years!
He greatly enjoyed his bath, new hair cut and the loving attention we have been able to give him. Do you see a smile with hope in his eyes?
Samson’s Vet visit went well. His blood work was good. There was no problem with his neuter. He was heartworm tested negative, micro chipped, shots are up to date, worming was done and his black with rot teeth were cleaned. 17 teeth were pulled; some stitches were required. He is very thin, has luxating patella's in both knees and a bit of arthritis in both legs. A good vitamin and some good dog food has been used to fatten him up. Samson loves men and older children, but please no small children or large dogs.
He greatly
enjoys rolling over to scratch his back and then curling up on
our doggie cushions.
This sweet boy will go up and down steps and greatly enjoys our fenced in back yard and will quickly come back into the home. He is so excited to be back into our home! Housetraining has begun. I do watch him constantly as it usually takes 2-3 months for these male dogs to learn acceptable house manners, but it can be done!
He continues to beg to sit in my lap while I watched TV. I picked him up and he quickly settled in right next to me. He then placed his head on my arm and looked directly into my face. I could see that he wanted to thank me. Samson is waiting for his "forever more" family to adopt him now. Samson's $200.00 adoption fee helps pay for just some of his Vet expenses. Also included in his adoption fee will be a kennel, a bag of dog food, some toys, leash collar, soft coat, a new bed along with lots of information to help your adoption start off on the right paw forward. Samson
enjoying the attention and play time of "Barbara Ann" (below).
The SNOW IS MELTING! Below, Samson and Froto enjoy being on our deck in the sun! Pictures of Samson (with Froto) below were taken just a few months after he has been with us! Yes! LOVE, good food and mercy can change a life.
SAMSON and Delilah (who has been adopted) came from Marti with the Wisconsin "One Starfish Rehoming Connections" who deals with many of the Wisconsin Amish Puppy farmers. One of those farmers took two "house poodles" away from family members who were not taking care of their dogs. These 2 Poodles did not have names, so Marti did provide their new names: "Samson" and "Delilah". Marti's heart-breaking pictures of "Samson" (below) show how very thin (9 pounds), neglected and unloved Samson has been all his 10 years of life. Pictures also show how LOVE, compassion and good food can change the unwanted.
